(LAUDERDALE LAKES, Florida) — The City of Lauderdale Lakes will join other Cities across Florida in celebrating City Government Week, October 18-24, 2015.
Sponsored by the Florida League of Cities (FLC), City Government Week is to showcase and celebrate cities and the many services they provide.
Florida City Government Week activities are being celebrated around the theme, “My City: I'm Part of It, I'm Proud of It”. City government is the closest form of government for many citizens. It also serves as the one with the most direct daily impact on its residents. These two reasons serve as the driving factors for municipal officials that feel they have a responsibility to pass along their understanding of public services and their benefits. "We are very excited about the upcoming events," said Commissioner Edwina Coleman. "We believe that through this event, the City of Lauderdale Lakes has an opportunity to help the City’s residents become more informed about the services of our city governments which should lead to more informed citizen participation in the future. It is a responsibility that we take very seriously."
Events planned for the week of October 18-24th include:
Elected Officials passed a resolution for declaration of City Government Week
Elected Officials visits to local schools promoting Civic Education
Senior Center Civic Pride Projects
Teen Center and After Care Program Civic Pride Projects
Tours to City Hall
Tours to Mayor Samuel Brown Historical Room
The Florida League of Cities is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida, designed and established to meet and serve the needs of Florida’s cities and their citizens. The City of Lauderdale Lakes is proud, as always, to be able to take part in such an opportunity.
